What are the consequences if I keep on putting unleaded..I just bought the car and it says it needs premium but I don't want to pay that much..and the car seems to run well on unleaded..so should I keep on putting unleaded or do I have to pay more?
I just don't want nothing bad to happen to the car..

it REQUIRES premium. The effect of regular gas in your car is like you eating fried fatty foods everyday. It will not cause the damage the same day, but over time it will reduce the life of your engine. The combustion of the premium gas is faster than lower grade which is what your engine is designed for. Over time the excess carbon build up will score your cylinder walls making your piston ring prone to failure, and your valves will get carbon as well causing sometimes them to get bent. Look at it like this, premium gas is 20 cents higher than regular. The car has a 17.1 gallon tank. On a fill up from empty you are only spending an extra $3.42. Is this small amount really worth an engine having to be rebuilt. Remember $3.42 FROM EMPTY. Also while you are thinking that you are saving money you are actually losing it as it gets better gas mileage running on the premium as the engine is not compensating for the lack of combustion and making less power. That extra $3.42 in savings will actually cost you about 2 gallons of gas in the long run, so just something to think about.

Most cars have a sticker or decal located next to or near gas cap that tells you what type of fuel is recommended. If you run regular in a car that requires premium, you will not be getting the optimum performance and fuel economy that its been set up for.
