I am not looking to store the unit, I want to permantly install it and still be able to close the compartment door.

are you sure you want to do that-aren't you going to have problems with seeing the screen and do really want to keep the glove box open when using the gps. Just my opinion-if should fit. Good luck with your new car-love my 06 6pd with nav.

I have a Garmin and it is no problem keeping it in the glove compartment.
