I have the opportunity to sell my 1998 Civic (1.3k miles) for a 1998 Acura RL SE (1k miles) for around $2,000 difference. My concern is trading in one used car for a used car of the same year (rather than newer).

Other considerations are:
MPG - 35 mpg - Civic / 25 mpg - Acura.
Safety - Acura is a larger car and has more airbags, so should be safer.
Cost - the Acura is a more expensive car, which may translate to more expensive to repair/maintain.

Thoughts?
EDIT: I meant that the Civic has 130,000 miles, and the Acura 100,000 miles.

I would ask myself what is the reason for changing.I do not think 30k miles difference is a good reason.Safety maybe? If you were my teenage new driver daughter or son I would rather have you in the safest car.

25 MPG is not realistic. I got 21-22 during the 8 years I had my RL. Mostly highway. The RL will cost more to insure and repair...
