Krazyboy 02-04-2008, 08:13 AM or would it b better 2 buy another acura integra with vtech on it? jlhm20 02-04-2008, 08:18 AM you can buy any b-series head with v-tech on it....the b16 head being the cheapest and best way to make a Ls v-tech...but these set ups tend to have alot of problems if it's not installed properly....i have also have a 94 integra and i swapped mine with a obd1 gsr...all for about 3000 w/ labor...its definitely worth it Nino Brown 02-04-2008, 09:32 AM You could swap the whole engine. for this you could use the same trans, but would need the computer, the wire harness for the VTEC and a few other miscellaneous things. better yet you can do a "frankenstein" if you would like to save some money, and you may not have to take the block out (depending on how you do some of the machining) What a "frankenstein" means in slang, is taking the engine block you have, remove the LS/GS head, and after some machining you can mate a VTEC head B18 or B16 vtec to your block. It does take some work, but it is fairly straightforward. You could search the web and should find alot of results and kits which may help you Whichever you do you should be happy- some people like the swap as they think the VTEC engine is made for higher revs, and it is. Also- some people like the LS/VTEC frankenstein as they say it has some more torque (you get slightly more displacement) Good luck! driftslave 02-04-2008, 09:32 AM Yes, you can put almost any Honda VTEC motor into the Integra's engine bay. You can do a B16(160hp), B16B(185hp), B18 or B18C (170-195hp)...those are the easy ones as they are made to fit in the same locations. You can also go for more high end newer VTEC motors like the K20's which make 200-200hp, but those are FAR more expensive...usually $5000 grand or so. The B series motors can be had in good shape for $1000-4000. You'll want to make sure you get the trans, axles, wiring harness and ECU. There are several swap kits available that include everything needed. I'd call Hasport or stop by their website to find out what would work best for what you want your car to be in the end. Good luck! |
