How many miles an 2000 ACURA RL good for...?
I am thinking about trading my Acura rl in for another car,but I like the fact that it is paid off. It has 115,000 miles on it. Does anyone know how many miles you can drive these cars without having to replace everything. I would like a reliable car for the next couple of years. What things will I be expecting to replace in the next few miles? The trans is automatic, but seems to slip a little when I put it into drive if I am in a hurry, how can I check the trans? What is wrong with the slipping into first gear?

If you figure about 15k a year. So you are good in that range, but it's still a lot of miles. People freak when any car hits the 100k mile range. It all depends on how good you have been about the maintenance. Take your car in and have the tranny checked. Most shops do free inspections, and at 115k you probably are looking at a rebuild soon especially if you haven't changed the fluid when you where suppose to. AT transmissions are really sensitive when it comes to bad fluid.. I was trying to hold off on my truck for another few thousand miles, but now it's one repair after another. You have to ask yourself if it's worth the hassle to fix it all the time, or have a newer more reliable car. If you are handy or have mechanic friends, then you should be ok.

Since you can't get any money by selling or trading it, just keep driving it until the transmission fails. Then either pay $3000 for a new remanufactured transmission to be installed or junk the car and get another one.
