...transmission in neutral? The guy says the surface has a rise of 2" in 100' so the car would roll backwards if it were a gravity driven problem...what do you think?

Are you sure that it is in neutral? It sounds like its in drive with indicator on the "N". I would count the clicks on the shifter to ensure that its in "D".

What do you mean by transmission in neutral?Please specify what do you want?
