I recently bought an 2000 Acura TL with 118,000 miles on it. I had it checked out before I bought it and the mechanic said it had the original struts and shocks so that those should be replaced in the near future. I am giving up a car that bounced all over the place due to the struts and shocks...the Acura does not bounce and it does not seem to me like the struts and shocks need to be replaced, what can happen if I do not replace them and should I take the mechanic's advice?

Perform a shock bounce test, push the car up & down on each corner of the car body, then release and count the number of times the car moves up& down. a good shock should stop body movement in 2 or 3 times. Also inspect the struts & shocks for oil leak. Suspension problem will upset operation of the steering wheel, uncomfortable ride, & may change wheel alignment.
