I need to grease the starter shaft on my 2004 Acura MDX. First step... finding the starter. Can anyone help?? Even on a similar year, they're probably the same.

Alright... I'm not stupid! I took it to Acura for an oil change, it was making a noise, and we asked about it. This is what they told me to do. My husband changed out the starter in our Toyota 4-runner and all this involves is pulling the starter, greasing the starter shaft and putting it back in. Can't be that hard. Only problem is the starter is not in the same location as the 4-runner's was, so rather than searching the engine, I thought I would ask. I'm sure there is someone out there that has pulled a starter on an Acura MDX.
Don't just assume I'm a stupid girl that doesn't know what I'm talking about. I asked a simple question, where is the starter in an 04 Acura MDX?

You don't grease starters. You may want to grease the bendix on the starter but that means you have to pull the starter and if you are doing that, you will want to replace the starter. I don't know your specific model but experience tells me that your starter is beneath the intake manifold, bolted up to the engine side of the bell housing.
By the time you get the starter off, you will understand that you want to just go ahead and replace it - since it is so damn hard to get to.

First off...take the vehicle into the Acura dealer and have the REPAIR person take a look at it, if you have to grease something that doesn't take grease (or oil) you need some professional help.

Mounted on the transmission,driver side and toward the front.Just follow the positive battery cable,the end of it is on the starter solenoid.

Take it to the dealer, you can afford one you should have enough money to pay a certified tech. While they at it, tell them to service the muffler bearings too.
