Pure driving experience, I would put Acura RL in the the last position because it is front wheel driven car. Rear wheel driven cars just handles better. BMW is the best handling car out of the three.

As for cost pf repair, I think Acura RL is the best, Then BMW, then Mercedes. Cost of repair is different from the reliability. BMW makes the most reliable car out of all. Well maintained BMW engine will push up to 400K miles (Gas engine only, Mercedes diesel will last longer than any engine)

The Acura is a decent car, don't get me wrong, but its attempt to be sporty is a sad, sad thing. First of all, its got AWFUL front-wheel-drive torque steer. If you want really sporty, involved driving, go with the BMW. Sure, the Acura might cost less.. sure, it might be a little more reliable, but if you got the money, go for the bimmer. Its got more status, it's more fun to drive, and surprisingly it's very easy to work on. If you know how to use a wrench, working on out of warranty bimmers is actually easier than working on toyotas. Besides, a BMW is a BMW. It's not a Honda in disguise. The Acura is a nice car, don't get me wrong.. but it's not sporty. It's a sedan, with FWD, over-rated horsepower figures, a nice interior, good for comfortable commuting, thats about it. Basically you're comparing apples to oranges. You need to go test drive the cars and decide for yourself what you want. I would also stay away from anything with a benz badge, unless you don't mind crappy customer service and your car being in the shop most of the time.

Based on reliability the Acura is top-notch, as far as performance, hell no. It's still based on the old front drive platforms, which cannot handle like a true rwd based car. It's not a myth, the RL sales lag way behind that of the 530 or the E class, and there is a reason for that.
