I'm preparing a 1993 Acura Legend for a buddy who needs a winter car. It's been sitting for several months, so I've replaced the battery. But when I let the car run, it idles up and down like someone's stepping on the gas and releasing it - up and down. It could be the choke, it could be electronic (although the ECM was replaced a year ago), or it could be something more.

Last year some cooling fluid leaked out from somewhere, but I still see fluid in the radiator. It idled funny at that time, so I just parked the car. In addition, the radiator fans ran for several minutes after the car was turned off. People tell me these fans do this on the Legend, but I was wondering if this could be a water pump issue (overheating) or just a simple maintenance issue.

If you know the Legend well and could provide some input, I'd appreciate it. My buddy really needs a winter car.
It idles up and down in park and neutal, but not in drive. Is this a fuel mix symptom, also?

don't know the vehicle but 'hunting' is normally a fuel mixture problem. stuck on choke??

the odd idle usually comes from an idle position sensor its a fairly cheap part under 100 dollars i've never replaced one though.
