I just bought my 2003 Acura rsx at a dealership about 1.5 months ago. The dealership is really good and the car is in really good condition. However, the engine light just came on and I'm not sure how safe it is to drive. I need to go back home tonight which will be an hour's drive.. was wondering if people thought this was okay? Also what do you think the problem could be because it was working perfectly before this and has new tires and a great engine. Please help!!

Is fine, you should check the mileage, sometimes when a car hits a certain mileage point like say 70,000 The check engine light comes on. As long as you smell nothing burning or smoke you should be okay. Take it to the dealership soon as you can they will clue you in.

if it's running fine, you're ok to drive it. but get the dealer to check the fault codes when you get back

As long as the yellow check engine light isn't flashing on and off every second or so and stays on continuously, you have plenty of time to drive the car and schedule a shop visit when you can. Read the technical note below for the details. Make sure to tighten your gas cap because that can make the light come on. If the light flashes on and off every second, get into the shop as soon as reasonable. Always read your owner's manual in the glove compartment and it will also tell you what to do.
