Filed under: Motorsports, Sedan, Acura, Racing

Acura debuted its TLX GT racecar at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show earlier this year, and it looks like the racer is set to get its first competitive outing in Motown as well. The RealTime Racing team is competing with a single car driven by Peter Cunningham for the Pirelli World Challenge rounds during the Detroit Grand Prix from May 30 through June 1.

Honda marks 20 million vehicles made in the USA
Mar 20, 2014 - 7:57 PM - by Acura Forum

Japanese automakers manufacturing in the United States is nothing new. But it was in November of 1982 when the first Honda Accord rolled off the assembly line in Marysville, OH. It was the first Japanese vehicle assembled in the US, and in the nearly 32 years since, Honda has made 10 million Accords here for a total of 20 million cars manufactured in America - enough to span from New York to San Francisco twenty times. It's that double landmark which Honda is now celebrating.

Honda has come a long way in those three decades, keeping that original plant in Marysville on line while expanding to three more - in East Liberty, OH; Lincoln, AL; and Greensburg, IN - with a fifth plant (the Performance Manufacturing Center) opening on the same site in Marysville to build the Acura NSX next year. It also builds engines in Lincoln and in Anna,... [Read More]

Acura has announced that the 2014 New York Auto Show will see the arrival of the production TLX - the sedan that will replace both the TL and TSX in the company's lineup. The TLX was already previewed at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show as a ... [Read More]

Acura RLX Sport Hybrid tours US featuring NSX race developed technology
Mar 18, 2014 - 11:24 PM - by TorqueNews

While it may be another year or two before North America greets the release of a 2nd generation NSX, Acuras Uber-advanced RLX Sport Hybrid is touring the nation, and is coming to a city near you.

Original source: http://www.torquenews.com/1574/acura...ped-technology

Its not your grandfather or parents Acura. Actually, no one has owned one like it and In fact, from what weve measured through research, ownership and hands on test driving, no other manufacturer on the planet can offer you the combination of race-tested hybrid multiple motor/ engine drive technology presented in the 2015 RLX Sport Hybrid.

Acura has taken the flagship of the line and kicked it up a notch as to combined horsepower and torque rating. While the current $60,000 3.5 liter i-VTEC V6, SH-AWD (all wheel drive, all wheel steering) RLX offers stellar performance and exceptional driver and passenger cabin accouterments, The RLX Sport Hybrid will do so with a twist; Its green; to a point.

Wed like to see the stated average mpg come in a bit higher. 28/32/30, while exceptional for a performance luxury sedan, will not attract the green crowd.

Toyota tops Consumer Reports best, worst used car values
Mar 18, 2014 - 9:22 PM - by Acura Forum
Filed under: Car Buying, Acura, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Subaru, Toyota

We often mock Toyota for building boring, soulless cars, but a new study by Consumer Reports suggests that regardless of whether that's true, the company has some of the best used cars on the market. In its report on used cars from 2004-2013, the Japanese automaker had 11 vehicles among its brands on the list - more than any other automaker.

CR breaks the list down by cost and vehicle size, and Toyota has at least one entry at every price point and in nearly every segment. To... [Read More]

Honda spinning off Acura as stand-alone division in bid to wake up brand
Mar 11, 2014 - 10:39 PM - by Acura Forum

Every major automaker has a different way of relating between its various divisions and brands. At Volkswagen, for example, the individual brands seem to operate with a large degree of autonomy. Under the Renault-Nissan Alliance, the two units share a common chief executive, but little else. The relationship between Honda and its luxury division Acura has always been rather close, but that's all about to change.

American Honda Motor Company has always handled sales and marketing in the North American market for both the Honda and Acura divisions, but new reorganization plans call for the two units to be separated under their own direction. Leading the Acura division will be... [Read More]

Acura TLX caught naked in production guise, can you spot the differences?
Mar 10, 2014 - 7:10 PM - by Acura Forum
Filed under: Spy Photos, Sedan, Acura, Luxury

Acura doesn't tend to do concept cars these days that don't foreshadow a specific upcoming production model. The ZDX prototype of 2010 previewed the production version, as did the ILX and RLX showcars of 2012 and the MDX of 2013. The NSX concept is on its way to production, as the SUV-X concept is likely to do as well in the coming years. So when Acura revealed the TLX prototype at the ... [Read More]

We still aren't convinced that the new Acura NSX will ever arrive in the US. After years of "concepts" and previews, it all seems like an elaborate tease put on by Honda to mess with journalists and auto enthusiasts. We're so looking forward to being wrong...

What isn't a joke, though, is the ... [Read More]

Acura organizes new business division to confront falling sedan sales
Feb 26, 2014 - 4:45 PM - by Acura Forum

Honda and Acura North America have announced a major restructuring of operations in hopes of turning around Acura's flagging business. For 2013, sales for Acura's sedans dropped 10.4 percent, while its CUV sales grew by 21 percent. The newly formed Acura Business Planning Office will attempt to right the ship.

As part of the restructuring, Acura is promoting Erik Berkman from President of Honda R&D Americas to lead a new division called the Acura Business Planning Office. Berkman has been with Honda since 1982 and led development of the 2006 Accord. He was also... [Read More]

Lexus gets top brand marks from Consumer Reports; Ford, Jeep hit hard
Feb 25, 2014 - 9:38 PM - by Acura Forum
Filed under: Car Buying, Acura, Audi, Ford, Jeep, Lexus

Consumer Reports has released its 2014 Car Brand Report Cards, with Lexus again reigning at the top and doing so with the same industry-topping score of 79 that it registered in last year's Report Cards. This year, the institute credited its lineup for being "usually quiet, comfortable, and fuel-efficient," noting it's the only brand on the list "to achieve an excellent average overall reliability score." The Car Brand Report Cars list is meant to rank the best all-around vehicles based on CR testing and reliability results tallied by subscribers it surveyed. Each brand included must have sufficient test and... [Read More]
